Accountability

Are you making the right choices?

Are you truly being accountable?

The other day i saw a post where someone said they’re overweight because as they can’t lose weight due to their medical issues. I suggested getting a referral to a dietitian. As that's within their scope of practice. Weight loss where complicated medical issues are present.

Instantly i was attacked and accused of not understanding physiology, having no idea how to coach. Blah blah blah. Yet referring out in this scenario is exactly the right response. Staying within my scope and recommending towards relevant help.

This got me thinking. Its the usual stay the victim game, blame everything game and do and say anything rather than be accountable. Nobody said there’s not situations that make things a lot harder. Just as in this case, nobody blamed or said it was simple. Just pointed out a direction that could help. But that would involve taking action and doing something they just do not want to do. Preferring to hide behind their predicament. Attack anyone that points out anything else and stay that victim.

People blame hormones, metabolic health issues, injury, disease and more. But not look at their situation and think “well what would be the approach i need” Because yes albeit the mechanism at which weight loss occurs is the same. People’s approaches to achieve are different in order to succeed.

But regardless of approach the individual needs one thing to happen before anything else.

Be accountable.
