Hip Hinge
Training Hip Hinge tip
Performing a hip hinge is a critical movement in ensuring efficient technique in various exercises.
Romanian deadlift, kettlebell swings, clearing hips away on a tricep pushdown and plenty more. It required the shins remaining perpendicular to the floor while hips move backwards, without the knees moving forward. The hip hinge allows you to perform exercises while maintaining the weight at the centre of gravity, increasing the efficiency of the lift while maintaining safety.
For the beginner, training hip hinge can be a frustrating experience.
So try this.
Place your calves against a low box or bench. Then focus on pushing your hips backwards without your calves moving off the box. As you do not want your knees coming forward. In conjunction you can use the broomstick on back as shown ensuring upper body position while all you have to do is focus on pushing your hips backwards.
