Sweeping Deadlifts
The Sweeping Deadlift
Ever feel that bar drifting away as it comes up? Or goes down?
What's the problem with that?
Well the most efficient bar path is the most direct and the path of least resistance.
With a deadlift thats over mid foot, the centre of gravity, and straight up and down.
Now there can be various reasons for a bar drifting away from you.
Like hips rising first causing a lean forward and therefore bar forward.
You could of started with shoulders in front of the bar instead of over the bar, again causing bar to move forward. You could be pushing the bar away with your shins just as you press off.
Or you could just have this bad habit of letting the bar drift as you lift.
Well imagine if you had a main focus constantly prompting you to keep the bar on one path and close. The sweeping deadlift.
As per image you want a band attached out front and to the bar with just enough tension to cause the bar to roll away if left on ground. Then your challenge is to deadlift while keeping that bar on track not allowing the band to win.
This will also allow you to build added tension and eventually strength to your lift as your constantly locked on maintaining the bar close.
Especially your lats.
